10 Things You Need to Know Before Your First Zrce Trip
Zrce Festival Beach on the island of Pag is one of the most exciting party destinations in Europe. Thousands of partygoers flock to this legendary stretch of coastline every summer — but if it's your first time, you probably have a ton of questions. To make sure you're fully prepared, we've put together the 10 most important things you need to know before your first Zrce trip.
1. The Closest Airport Is Zadar
Zrce Beach is located on the island of Pag in northern Croatia. The nearest airport is Zadar (ZAD), about 100 km away. The drive takes roughly 1.5 hours. You can also fly into Split or Zagreb, but expect a longer transfer time. Find affordable flights on our flight search.
2. Book Your Accommodation Early
Zrce is extremely popular during peak season (June to August). The best apartments and hotels near the beach are often booked out months in advance. Wait too long and you'll only find expensive leftovers or places far from the action. Our tip: Check out the accommodation on ZRCE.de early and secure your spot.
3. Pack Earplugs for the Clubs
The clubs at Zrce Festival Beach are loud — seriously loud. Papaya, Aquarius, and LIFT pump out bass that you feel in your bones. If you're partying multiple nights in a row, protect your hearing with quality party earplugs. They filter the volume without ruining the sound. Your future self will thank you.
4. Sunscreen Is Absolutely Essential
The Croatian sun is brutal, especially at the beach. Zrce Beach has very little natural shade, and anyone spending the day at the beach or at a pool party will get sunburned faster than they think. SPF 50 is no exaggeration — and bring plenty, because sunscreen on-site is significantly more expensive than at home.
5. Cash and Card — Both Work
Croatia has been using the Euro since 2023. In the major clubs and restaurants at Zrce Beach, you can easily pay by card. For smaller kiosks, taxi rides, and the occasional street vendor in Novalja, cash is king. A mix of both is the best strategy.
6. Know the Alcohol Rules in Novalja
Since 2026, Novalja has enforced stricter rules on public alcohol consumption. Pre-drinking on the street with bottles and cans can result in fines. The clubs at Zrce Festival Beach are fully licensed, of course — but on the way there, you should know the rules. Learn more in our FAQ section.
7. Download Taxi Apps
The route between Novalja and Zrce Beach (about 3 km) is the most-traveled stretch. Walking uphill takes around 40 minutes — not fun after a long night of partying. Download taxi apps in advance or look into local shuttle services. Even better, arrange your airport transfer so you arrive stress-free from the airport.
8. Festival Tickets Often Sell Out
The major festivals at Zrce Beach — Hideout, Sonus, Fresh Island — often sell out weeks or months before the event. Early-bird tickets are not only cheaper but sometimes your only chance to get in. Keep an eye on the festival calendar and grab yours in time.
9. The Beach Is FREE During the Day
Many people think you need a ticket to access Zrce Beach — that's not true. During the day, the beach is completely free to enter. You can lay out your towel, swim in the crystal-clear water, and soak up the atmosphere without spending a cent. It's only in the evening, when the clubs open and the DJs start spinning, that you need a ticket for specific events.
10. It's Not Just About Partying — Explore Pag Island
Sure, Zrce is best known for its clubs and festivals. But the island of Pag has so much more to offer. The moon-like karst landscape, the old town of Pag with its salt pans, hidden coves, and the famous Pag cheese make for an amazing day trip. If you only party and don't explore the island, you're missing half the experience. Find inspiration in our surroundings guide.
