The food in Croatia is characterized by a grilling culture. Almost all restaurants offer grilled meat and fish dishes. Especially along the coast and on the islands of the Adriatic, freshly caught and excellently prepared seafood and fish dishes are highly recommended.
The island of Pag and the town of Novalja are famous for their grilled lamb, well beyond the country's borders. Additionally, a very famous cheese is produced and sold on the island of Pag.
North of Novalja, near the town of Lun, some of the oldest olive trees in the world can be found. It goes without saying that
the food in Croatia is strongly influenced by the grilling culture. In nearly every restaurant, grilled meat and fish dishes are served. Especially along the coast and on the islands of the Adriatic, freshly caught seafood and fish dishes are a real recommendation – freshly caught and deliciously prepared.
The island of Pag and the town of Novalja are known far beyond the country's borders for their grilled lamb, which is considered a specialty of the region. Additionally, one of the most famous cheeses in Croatia is produced on Pag: Pag cheese. With its intense flavor, it is one of the culinary highlights that you must try.
Another regional product is olive oil. North of Novalja, near the town of Lun, some of the oldest olive trees in the world grow. No wonder, then, that you can find excellent homemade olive oil here and throughout the island.
At Zrce Beach itself, fast-food restaurants dominate, which usually do not offer traditional specialties. In Novalja, on the other hand, you will find numerous restaurants where you can enjoy authentic local cuisine.
