Slivovitz
Helpful background, tips and explanations in detail.
Slivovitz
Slivovitz (Croatian: šljivovica) is a traditional spirit made from plums and is one of the most well-known spirits in Croatia and on the island of Pag. It is often simply called "Slivo" and is an integral part of Croatian drinking culture.
There are two varieties of Slivovitz:
Gold: aged in barrels, flavored by the wood, and yellowish in color
Colorless: stored in bottles, clear and without wood notes
In almost every bar and club in Novalja and at Zrce Beach, you can order a glass of Slivovitz. With an alcohol content of at least 37.5%, it is certainly not for the faint-hearted – the spirit packs a punch.
Whether you like "Slivo" is something you have to find out for yourself. What we do know: Many legendary party stories at Zrce Beach begin with a glass of Slivovitz.
